Before the new season begins, almost every F1 driver took a vacation to clear their minds. Valtteri Bottas chose to spend his time in the land down under, often unwinding by cracking a cold one. Seems like it is not just the mullet that he brought back with him, but also the laid-back, humorous personality from Australia. Putting that personality out on display, he left fans in splits with a quick-witted response during Alfa Romeo’s 2023 car launch.

The car launch season is well underway and Alfa Romeo is the latest to join. Until now, Haas, Red Bull, and Williams have taken a conservative approach, revealing only their liveries, and not the actual cars. While Haas got a resoundingly good response, Red Bull and Williams didn’t. The Milton-Keynes-based outfit was, in fact, slammed for going with an almost identical livery design they’ve been following for the last few years. The Swiss team did not follow the trend, though. Putting up a brave front, they unveiled their actual car and even revealed the changes they made from last year.

After the team’s technical director, Jan Monchaux explained the changes made in the car, drivers Zhou Guanyu, Theo Pourchaire, and Bottas answered fans’ questions. Valtteri, apparently, did not fully understand a question that was asked of him, but still had a pretty funny response.

As per the video released by Sky Sports on Instagram, he said, In a nutshell, the question that was asked, I kind of missed it, I did not answer it properly. Basically, if the car is quick, I basically designed it. But if it’s not quick, I had nothing to do with it.”
