Alfa Romeo became the latest F1 team to unveil their 2022 challenger C42 at a grand launch event earlier today. The team is going ahead with a fresh driver lineup of Bottas and Rookie Guanyu Zhao in 2022. The team did not have a great outing in Circuit de Barcelona during the pre-season testing. Valtteri Bottas could only log 10 laps on the final day and was at the bottom of the grid in terms of lap time.
The team lagged in terms of mileage throughout the three-day testing. However, they have got two weeks before the final round of testing in Bahrain to rectify any discrepancies they identified in Barcelona. Meanwhile, Bottas will be there to help the team build a solid car before the season kicks off next month. The 2022 season comes with a lot of unpredictability because of the major overhaul in the regulations.

Coming from a top-tier team, the Finnish driver has a plethora of experience behind him and his valuable inputs will certainly help Alfa Romeo improve as the season goes. He enjoyed a successful run with the Silver Arrows winning 10 Grand Prix and 58 podiums under his belt. However, he was often forced to play second fiddle to partner Lewis Hamilton.
In this new adventure with Alfa Romeo, fans expect him to function with complete autonomy.

Meanwhile, F1 insiders believe the 2022 grid will be more competitive than the past seasons. Like many others, Bottas himself is also counting on this season full of grit and surprises. “We have no idea how that first race is going to pan out. Testing helped us confirm our expectations of where we stand, the progress we have made with the car, but now we are getting closer to the moment that really matters,” said Bottas during the car launch.
Moreover, Bottas said that the team has been working hard, and “That in turn gives me that extra boost when I am in the cockpit,” concluded the new Alfa Romeo driver.
