Stars and fantasy studded the City of Love as the 2024 Paris Olympics kicked off. On the rain-soaked July 26, the Olympians sailed through the Seine with pride and determination. Oh, what an enthralling sight it was! You can feel the excitement of the games in the F1 paddock too. Teams and drivers have rushed to support the athletes’ quest for glory. Lewis Hamilton is no exception, he has two special reasons to let the Olympic fever get him!

You may ask, what are the two reasons? Lewis has an Olympian best friend, so he is surely supporting his bestie, Miles Chamley-Watson in his third stint at the Olympics. Meanwhile, the Mercedes driver will also be cheering for Great Britain – his country. And of course, whoever wins, Hamilton would celebrate with equal enthusiasm.

Lewis Hamilton took to social media to cheer for the athletes of Great Britain and Chamley-Watson. He shared Instagram Stories. In the first one, the British Olympians are crossing the Seine in their boats. The Pont Alexandre III overhead. The players are holding small, waving Union Jacks in their hands. Hamilton wrote “good luck @teamgb” as the caption. Meanwhile, the second story is of Miles Chamley-Watson in front of the iconic Eiffel Tower with an American Flag in his hand.

So, the support system is going strong. While Hamilton is cheering for his compatriots, he is also not leaving out his dear friend. Despite competing for America, Chamley-Watson is receiving extra support from the 7x World Champion. Meanwhile, with the Belgian GP around the corner, Hamilton is eyeing another win in this season.

It would’ve been a surprise if Lewis Hamilton chose the Paris Olympics over the Belgian GP. But luckily that isn’t the case. The champ knows how crucial this race is going to be – not just for himself but also for the team. So reaching the podium is important. The last few races have been magnificent for Mercedes and Hamilton would love to continue the positive streak. With a win in his bag, the Brit is hungry for more.

Some new upgrades have been introduced to the W15. The team has made certain circuit-specific changes in the halo, floor, and other parts. And hopefully, this will be beneficial for Lewis Hamilton and George Russell. Both drivers have been on the top step of the podium in two consecutive races. So a Mercedes 1-2 would be the target in Spa-Francorchamps. Russell would want to redeem himself after two disappointing races in Silverstone and Hungary. Meanwhile, Lewis would want to continue his podium spell.

And with that, the ‘silly season’ will dive into a relaxing summer break and return with greater force in August. But before that, Mercedes will be aiming for the top spots, just like all the Olympians giving their best in Paris right now.
