Lewis Hamilton kept his promise. Just before the Paris Olympics 2024 started the F1 champ had said that he’d attend the fencing event. It did not come as a surprise because Hamilton’s best friend, American fencer, Miles Chamley-Watson would have been down in the arena fighting foiling for glory. However, America’s fencing hero’s third Olympics campaign wasn’t particularly brilliant. And on Sunday, August 4th Chamley-Watson donned his gear to battle it out with France for the Bronze medal.

With Lewis Hamilton, Snoop Dogg, Nina Dobrev, and others in the crowd, Miles Chamley-Watson‘s support system was top-notch. However, things did not turn up in favor of Team USA. The French side overpowered Chamley-Watson and Co., and with a final score line of 45-32, the Star-Spangled Banner had to settle for fourth.  And with that, Miles Chamley-Watson’s third stint at the Games ended with a heartbreak. Of course, he wanted the top step of the podium, but it was Japan, Italy, and France who ranked respectively. However, Lewis Hamilton did not let his friend’s head lay low.

Hamilton took to his Instagram to spill out his emotions- not just for Miles, but also for the lovely crowd who uplifted the American team.

Lewis took his moment to express his gratitude for the supportive audience. He wrote: “Such an amazing experience to be at the Olympics and feel the energy of the crowd. The dedication, focus, and resilience of these competitors are incredible to witness up close.” It is so important for teams to have an engaging, positive crowd. Every Olympics event witnesses the beauty of encouragement from the audience. Paris 2024 isn’t an exception. The crowd in the fencing arena continued to cheer for Team USA when they faced dejection.
