Lewis Hamilton is at that stage in his career where he often comes across this tiresome question. The question about life after Formula 1. The multi-talented and extremely influential Brit has a lot of avenues he can explore. However, Hamilton will not walk on the same path as Arnold Schwarzenegger.

No, Hamilton is not entering the sport of bodybuilding and competing in Mr. Olympia anytime soon. We’re talking about the path Schwarzenegger took after his bodybuilding career. The American served as the 38th Governor of California between 2003 and 2011. Schwarzenegger entered politics after amassing widespread popularity through bodybuilding, business, and entertainment.

Hamilton is already on a similar footing as Schwarzenegger in terms of popularity, achievements, and a diverse portfolio. However, the Mercedes man will not follow Schwarzenegger’s footsteps to the tee and enter politics. Why? Let’s hear it from him.

In 2021, Hamilton sat down for an interview with Corriere Della Sera ahead of the 2021 Azerbaijan GP. When asked if politics is a step in his career during the interview, Hamilton revealed, “I’m not good at politics at all. I’m just trying to give my contribution, to find a way to get messages across. To make sure my 5-year-old nephew, and his generation, don’t experience what we did. May they find a more open world.”

Although they both have amassed a great following and use their respective platforms to bring change, the Brit straightaway refused to take the ‘politics’ road as the Austrian-American.

When posed the question, Hamilton said, “Many don’t speak up because they don’t know enough, and I respect that. But I also don’t see why they can’t learn.”

However, Hamilton feels he has a massive responsibility to use his platform. “We all have responsibilities: to educate, to improve the planet, not to remain silent,” he concluded.
