At every Grand Prix weekend, it has become common to spot a celebrity in the paddock. Formula 1 is the pinnacle of motorsport and it is natural for everyone to be drawn to it. Moreover, the recent spurt in popularity has made it an event that everyone wants to be associated with, and the man synonymous with it- Lewis Hamilton.


Taking a trip down memory lane, we revisit the 2017 United States GP. It was round 17 of the F1 championship and US fans were buzzing to see the racing action. Many famous stars made an appearance throughout the weekend.

Notably, Usain Bolt was present to get a taste of the F1 drama. He even experienced a hot-lap around the circuit with Lewis Hamilton. One would think that fast speed for a man like him would be second nature, but even he was stunned.

The speed king of 4-wheels took the speed king of 2 legs on a flying lap in a $200,000 Mercedes AMG GT-R.

After completing the lap around the COTA, Bolt said “There’s no words to describe it. The G-force on that was real. It was stressful. The first lap was aggressive and good and then when he took the traction control off I thought I was going to die. I’m stressed, I’m stressed. I need to take five. I was not ready for that, I was screaming a little bit.”

The Mercedes driver who has driven many laps of the American track also needed time to catch his breath. He said “That was probably the most fun passenger ride I’ve ever done. I was on the limit. We nearly crashed several times. I wasn’t watching where I was going. Don’t do that at home.

“It was so good. I pushed the car to the max because I wanted to scare him to death. He talks about being the fastest dude in the world, but I can still make him scared a little bit.” Hamilton concluded.

What do Lewis Hamilton and Usain Bolt have in common?

Usain Bolt holds the world record for setting the fastest time in both 100 and 200m sprint races. Whereas, Lewis Hamilton is a seven-time champion of the most famous racing championship in the world. Everything points towards their love of being the fastest athlete. Yet, that is not the only thing the two of them share.

The Brit and the Jamaican both share a mutual love for creating music. Frequently, Hamilton has taken to social media to share his passion for music. Hamilton took his interests further by collaborating with Christina Aguilera on the song ‘Pipe’.

The former Olympic athlete has a music album to his name. After retiring in 2018, he devoted his time to producing a 13-song record. He released the reggae album in September 2021 called ‘Country Yutes’.

In the wake of his friend’s debut in music, Hamilton was quick to congratulate him. He shared a message for him on his Instagram story saying “Congrats on releasing your album, bro. I know how much it takes to make that step.”
