Max Verstappen and Lance Stroll are heading to the Azerbaijan GP with some dreadful memories. Last time around, the two crashed into the walls of Baku on the main straight, on different laps, completely unprovoked. The same main straight allows drivers to clock speeds up to 220 mph. This is a thrilling prospect for any racing driver to touch such high speeds on a track.

But former world champion Nico Rosberg is not a fan of this stretch as he feels rather scared on this stretch. Rosberg is an experienced driver, and he feels there isn’t enough safety on this stretch and any incident can become fatal.

Max Verstappen and Lance Stroll’s unprovoked crash at Baku

And the stretch Rosberg warns fans about is the same stretch where Verstappen and Stroll crashed in Baku last season. Stroll initiated the unfortunate high-speed crash trend of the race on lap 31 last time. And the Red Bull world champion followed suit after leading most of the race on lap 46 of 51.

The rears blew out for both the drivers and Pirelli acquired their tires for detailed analysis in its laboratories. The Italian company declared the rear left tire blowout was not because of manufacturing defects but because of ‘running condition of the tire’. Whatever the case may be, running at 200 miles an hour and crashing into a wall is a scary prospect.

Elaborating on the same, Rosberg says, “This is one of the highest speeds of the year, 350kph(217mph) or something crazy like that.” Rosberg, later in his Azerbaijan GP analysis video, stops the car on the straight and points to a wall.

He explains, “Imagine something breaks on the car here. You’re at 350kph four meters on the left there is just a wall and it’s facing you, so if something breaks here, it’s the end. There’s no more you! So this is one of the most scary places that I’ve ever driven an F1 car in.”

A dreadful aspect of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix; Explained by Rosberg and experienced by Verstappen and Stroll.
