The screams of Charles Leclerc after his disheartening crash at the French GP said it all. The Ferrari fans threw their hands in the air, and the shock of many emoted how bad the F1 fraternity felt for the Monegasque. He was leading the race and could’ve won when suddenly terror hit again.

The driver apparently had a throttle issue and spun out of the lead out of nowhere. And while many wished that he could recover, he had actually crashed and there were no hopes of him getting back into the race. He was out of the race in seconds, leaving everyone watching, stunned at the turn of events.

The crash was very brutal, too. The drivers driving around that turn were at a speed of around 180 km/h. However, Leclerc’s F1-75 was almost 15 kilometers per hour higher than the rest. The driver was setting purple sectors, so he definitely pushed hard. Then clearly, the collision happened as he lost control and it was concerning, prompting many to hope that Leclerc was okay in the car.

Instantly, team radio checks were made, and we could hear Leclerc complaining about the throttle. The 24-year-old was dishearteningly breathing heavy and screamed moments later down the radio.

Though all is not lost and there are races to go where the Prancing Horses can catch up, fans find it hard to believe. The team (now infamously) asked Carlos Sainz to pit mid-battle. The driver started from the back of the grid to secure a podium place, only to lose it later. Previously, they’ve made a strategic blunder for Leclerc as well.

Regardless, post-race, the Monegasque, dejected, took responsibility for the crash. He said, “It’s my fault and if I keep doing mistakes like this, then I deserve to not win the championship. The level is very high this year. I’m performing at a high level, but if I keep doing those mistakes then it’s pointless to be at the high level.”
