Lewis Hamilton left McLaren to join Mercedes. While 2013 didn’t create any ripples, the Briton and his team cracked the 2014 regulations on the tee and reigned over the sport for EIGHT YEARS. However, 2022 came around and the Silver Arrows had to hand over the crown back to the team they took it from, i.e. Red Bull. Now at the losing end of it, Hamilton has often criticized the new regs and Max Verstappen‘s dominance, rendering the sport boring. This has now irked the fans.

Also, this isn’t the first time a losing Hamilton has made such a statement. Before he swept the sport off its feet, Sebastian Vettel was winning championships and he did that four years in a row. And Hamilton had specifically stated that Vettel’s dominance will render the sport boring. However, that was before he became a champion a zillion times with the German team. However, he has given a lukewarm response to new regulations which his team hasn’t been able to crack.

Though he began by defending the new aspect of the sport. He soon turned to criticize it as well. As quoted by Grande Premio, Hamilton said, “I think it’s a very negative way of looking at it [the new regulations]. It’s good that we’re trying new things, and it’s important that we keep moving forward and evolving — technology has evolved. It’s just unfortunate that we still see the same differences between the teams.” And these comments surfacing on Twitter haven’t gone down very well with fans.
