In an astonishing turn of events, Scuderia Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel will part ways at the end of 2020. This brings a 5-year association to an end and casts a massive wave of uncertainty over Vettel’s future. Suffice to say, many were stunned when the news broke.
Apparently, both parties mutually agreed to split at the end of 2020. Until that time, Vettel will try and achieve the best possible results for the Scuderia Ferrari and gun for the championship for one last time.
Vettel confessed, “The team and I have realised that there is no longer a common desire to stay together beyond the end of this season. Financial matters have played no part in this joint decision. That’s not the way I think when it comes to making certain choices and it never will be.”

Vettel confessed that the past few months has led him to re-evaluate his priorities in life. He stressed on using the imagination and adopting a new approach to a situation that has changed. The 4-time world champion is also willing to take some time to reflect on his priorities for the future. Even his teammate, Charles Leclerc acknowledged Vettel’s influence within the team and his own development.
He concluded, “Scuderia Ferrari occupies a special place in Formula 1 and I hope it gets all the success it deserves. Finally, I want to thank the whole Ferrari family and above all its “tifosi” all around the world, for the support they have given me over the years. My immediate goal is to finish my long stint with Ferrari, in the hope of sharing some more beautiful moments together, to add to all those we have enjoyed so far.”

Given how much Vettel has dedicated to Ferrari and his obvious passion for the team, it is so sad that it has ended on this note. He deserved much better 😔#F1 #Vettel pic.twitter.com/YuBwJiA32R

Honestly, I did not expect that to happen. Seb and Ferrari has always been a pairing that could rival Mercedes at its best. I just hope that we will see Vettel race and win with another team.#F1 #Vettel #SillySeason

I’ll be sad to see Vettel leave F1 if he does, I’m also sad to see him leave Ferrari without a WDC.
However, I’m also optimistic and excited to find out who Leclercs no.2 partner will be for 2021 #Vettel #F1

Well, now I can say in peace.
Fuck Off, Ferrari.
I am done pretending that I ever liked you.
Good riddance.#Seb5 #Vettel#F1 https://t.co/do7vUzjEfS

#Ferrari let #Vettel down in 4 of the last 5 years. 2018 Vettel let himself down. Sad that he couldn't add more titles but it's the right decision. Ferrari need to get ready for the post Hamilton era with Leclerc, like RB are doing with Max. Hoping for Danny or Sainz #Formula1

Looks like Sebastian Vettel's options beyond 2020 are limited. Does he want to help rebuild Renault or McLaren? If he retires, strong possibility of no German driver on the grid for the first time since 1990. Don't forget – they've won 12 of the last 30 championships. #Vettel

Trevor Carlin on Seb “He was the most natural, relaxed, funniest team member you could ever wish for (…) he knew exactly what he wanted to make the car faster. It was incredible, it was so easy for him to be fast.”

I can’t say I’m surprised, but I am sad. The partnership promised so much, but all things must pass.
Big questions remain now and the driver market suddenly gets very exciting.
My money is still on Sainz for Ferrari. Ricciardo to McLaren. https://t.co/laFtjVz6cR
