A strategy can break or make an F1 weekend, and at the Turkish Grand Prix, Sebastian Vettel experienced just that. As the four-time world champion was zipping around Istanbul Park, he pitted for a set of slick tires, while the track was still wet.

And as expected, the German driver ended up sliding all across the race track. Aston Martin realized their mistake and soon called their driver back in the pits for intermediate tires. So, it was not a surprise to see the world of Twitter exploding with memes, mocking the strategy of the Silverstone-based team.

Many were surprised to see Vettel choose slick tires as the track was still wet. As soon the German left the pits, he found himself without any grip. He was soon called back into the pits for intermediates, and as expected social media was ready with reactions to their disastrous strategy.

One of the crucial mistakes that played a part in his disastrous weekend, was the decision to switch to slick tires while the track was still wet. With the lack of grip the tires provided, Vettel found himself back in the pits for intermediate. As the flag brought the race to end, the German had to settle for an eighteenth place finish on the grid.
