However, departing from this tradition, the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir has hosted the first race for the past three years. Despite not reclaiming its status as the season opener, the iconic Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne will play host for round 3 of the 2024 Formula 1 season.
The electrifying 2024 season is packed with thrilling races around the world! Notably, the Chinese Grand Prix returns as the season’s fifth round. 2024 Australian Grand Prix Schedule: When & Where to Watch?
The Australian Grand Prix weekend structure features three free practice sessions, qualifying, and the race. On Friday, March 22nd, the first two practice sessions will start, with FP1 running from 12:30 to 13:30 AEDT and FP2 from 16:00 to 17:00 AEDT, each lasting 60 minutes. The third practice session and qualifying will occur on Saturday, March 23rd, with FP3 scheduled from 12:30 to 13:30 local time (60 minutes) and qualifying divided into Q1, Q2, and Q3, totaling 60 minutes (timing subject to track incidents like yellow or red flags). The race will be held on Sunday, March 24th, and will start at 15:00 AEDT, spanning 58 laps around the 5.278-kilometer Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne.
