Is this the race Mercedes were looking for? The upgrades certainly look to be paying off. At least given the way Red Bull and Max Verstappen are performing, the Silver Arrows could not have asked for a better result. Lewis Hamilton, after his P2 finish in Australia, is back on the podium. And so is his teammate George Russell. While that should be what headlines should all be about, it’s the post-race interview Hamilton gave to his old nemesis Nico Rosberg that is leaving fans in splits on the internet.

The qualifying was far from ideal for both Mercedes drivers. More so for Russell who couldn’t make it into Q3 and resultantly started the race in P12. However, he made places in quick succession and grabbed his first podium finish of the season. He too left the fans in splits earlier with a hilarious back-and-forth with his race engineer. The responsibility to tickle the fans’ funny bone later went to his teammate.

The rivalry between Hamilton and Rosberg, to this day, remains one of the fiercest teammate v teammate rivalry the sport has ever seen. The duo, for three years, was each other’s only competition for the race wins. As things started to heat up between them, they often came together on the track. Neither of them held back while criticizing each other publically during press conferences and interviews. The worst of their crashes coincidentally came during the 2016 Spanish GP. And now, as the Briton came in 2nd today, the man interviewing him was none other than Nico himself.

When the interview came to an end, Nico told Lewis, “Good to see you.” Instead of returning the compliment, Hamilton simply said “Thank you” and moved on. Take a look at how fans reacted to Hamilton giving his former rival a cold shoulder.
