George Russell and Lewis Hamilton will be teammates at Mercedes for the 2022 season. The British duo made their first appearance as teammates at the recent Mercedes 2022 livery launch. While talking with the 2 hosts, Russell even cracked a joke at the expense of his team principal Toto Wolff while referencing a throwback moment with Hamilton.
The young British driver mentioned he looked up to the 7-time world champion when he was young. In addition, George also talked about an old photo of himself, waiting for Lewis Hamilton to sign his books.

“We’ve got better since then, but I don’t know about you”: George Russell to his new team boss
According to reports, while referencing the throwback picture, Toto mentioned that a lot has changed since 2009. He further mentioned that he does not see a change in Lewis, but Russell is unrecognizable from the picture.
Wolf said, “Well, we’ve definitely seen that both of them have improved since the photo! I think Lewis is ok, but definitely George.”
To this, the former William’s man replied, “We’ve got better since then, but I don’t know about you!”
Although George exhibited his quick wit, it was his new team boss’ response that stole the show. In return to the snarky comment, the Mercedes team boss said, “That’s one point for you. I will pay you back today.”
Alongside this, it was the 7-time world champion’s first media appearance since the Abu Dhabi GP that had fans talking. Hamilton mentioned that he was raring to go and work together with his new teammate.

“I decided then I’d attack again, working with Toto and George. It’s exciting, I can feel the energy. George had an amazing career so far. It’s exciting to see him grow. I’ve had him sitting behind me on the desk,” said Hamilton, for his new teammate.
It is nice to see Russell jelling so well with everyone on the team, despite this being his first season with them. It is also nice to hear the banter between him and the team boss without things getting too serious.
