The situation at Red Bull has been unstable for quite a while now, with Christian Horner being the center of a scandal. Many team members are at the risk of their jobs and others are planning on moving out. Including talks of Max Verstappen and Helmut Marko leaving the team, Adrian Newey is becoming the newest name to possibly plan an exit.

Currently, rumors state that Newey will be transferred to the RB17 Hypercar project instead of continuing with the F1 team. There is a certain amount of power play in Red Bull now, and it looks like Mercedes and Ferrari are ready to take advantage of the situation and battle it out to bring Adrian Newey into their teams. The most surprising part of this is that Ferrari is reported to have already offered a ‘blank check’ to the star engineer, and now Mercedes has made its move.

After the first race in Bahrain, the tremulous situation of Red Bull had rumors of Max Verstappen leaving the team for Mercedes. Although this was ruled out, Helmut Marko was the next to be rumored to leave. Now, with Newey being said to be off the F1 project, there is a chance that he might look towards a new team. According to FUnoAnalisiTecnica, Ferrari is ready to propose to Adrian Newey to shift to their team with a blank check in hand.

It’s no secret that Ferrari has no shortage of funds. The legendary supercar brand is the most prestigious manufacturer in the world. With that, they can make investments of $500 million in Lewis Hamilton and an equally unfathomable amount to Newey as well. However, Mercedes is not going to let this slide. GP Blog reported that Toto Wolff spoke to OE24 about bringing in Adrian Newey to the team.

The Mercedes boss reportedly said, “Everything is always possible in this crazy carousel. I wouldn’t rule anything out. But we have an excellent team of technicians with whom I feel comfortable, even if that is not reflected in the lap time at the moment.” With this, the 2025 silly season continues prematurely as the grid will have some major changes next year. However, Adrian Newey has yet to comment on the same, as he has not mentioned anything about leaving Red Bull so far. For now, we can expect to see Newey continue working on the RB20, but he is not the only mastermind behind the super quick car.
