The team decided to go back to the classic silver livery as they bid for the 9th consecutive title this season. But alongside this, a lot has happened in the F1 world over the course of the last 24 hours.

FIA President Mohammed bin Sulayem announced major changes in the 2022 racing committee yesterday. Among them, the most prominent was that Michael Masi, the man held at the center of this controversy, will no longer serve as the race director. Meanwhile, after a silence of over two months, Lewis opened up about the Abu Dhabi GP.

Lewis has recently expressed that he was never thinking of hanging up his helmet, instead; he was taking a step back to process the Abu Dhabi debacle.

Therefore, it is official that the 7-time world champion is back in the attacking mode, working alongside Wolff and Russell. However, Sir Lewis’ initial silence did raise some questions about his future in the sport. But in the end, Hamilton has put an end to all the speculations and fans will see him soon on the grid.

Meanwhile, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff says he was “not worried” that Hamilton will retire, though his previous statements might suggest the opposite. During the W-13 car launch, Wolff reflected on Lewis’ decision to shy away from social media for a while.

Toto Wolff believes these adversities will strengthen Lewis Hamilton

For the first time, the three Mercedes men sat together and took questions ahead of the car launch. Team boss Toto Wolff has been very vocal about his thoughts on the controversial Abu Dhabi GP. He was constantly pushing for a structural change in the FIA race committee, which finally happened. FIA has appointed new race directors and have also come up with a virtual race control room concept for the 2022 season.

Wolff is happy about these developments and the team has pledged to “move on” from the dramatic events. Moreover, he believes Hamilton took the right choice by moving away from the social media glare. “He did the right thing to withdraw from the microcosm of F1. He took a step back and withdrew from social media. Now he has a great attitude, he is positive and determined. Again, the adversities thrown at him will strengthen him,” said Wolff.
