With no name and no release date, the F1 movie has already created a buzz among fans. This British GP fed into this excitement with Apex GP making its first contact with the world of motorsport. The crucial scenes shot at the legendary Silverstone track sparked the conversation again in the world of F1. With minute details still coming out, the Mercedes boss Toto Wolff made some revelations as well. In fact, the Austrian made an interesting assessment of the impact of entertainment on the sport. He also vowed to touch new heights alongside Lewis Hamilton.

Wolff recently revealed he and the Brackley outfit are significantly invested in the movie project. In fact, the Austrian billionaire is a co-producer alongside Hamilton in the movie project. So speaking from authority, Wolff not only expressed his high opinion of the movie, but he also disparaged the show that made it all possible.

The show in question is Netflix’s Drive to Survive. The show was a masterstroke from the $146 billion dollar company and they and the sport have been reaping the rewards from it since day one. However, after opening the eyes of F1 entities to the impact of entertainment on the sport, now everyone wants pip DTS. This is exactly what Wolff vouched for with the movie project as well while speaking to Sky Sports as quoted by Si.com. “But seriously, I believe Netflix works very well for Formula 1, and now we’re taking it to the next level,” said Wolff.

America was never concerned with Formula 1. However, that changed after the Liberty Media takeover and the Drive to Survive. Now numerous fans are hooked and they want more. The unnamed F1 movie will add to their desire for more F1 content. However, it wasn’t an overnight idea. The Hollywood A-listers and the massive investment are a result of six years of continued effort from Hamilton as revealed to the media.

“I spent like last six years, five years probably in Los Angeles, having meetings with a lot of different production companies. Trying to get a better understanding of the background or what’s happening, you know how to go about putting together a movie. Brad [Pitt] is the star, and it’s been an honor to meet and engage with him.”

“And Joseph Kosinski, for example, did an amazing movie, the Top Gun. We’re working together. My role is to try to make sure that it’s the best racing movie ever been created,” said Hamilton.
