We witnessed one of the most dramatic final lap finishes at the British Grand Prix, yet again. No one had the time to blink and even miss out on a millisecond at Silverstone. The Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One team dominated their home race again in an active volcanic mode. But the results have kept Team Principal Toto Wolff on his toes.

The team’s both English and Finnish drivers led the race from the starting in one-two positions, respectively. But eventually, Valtteri Bottas suffered a puncture which resulted in his pit stop during the final two laps.

It dropped the Finnish driver from P2 to P11 position. In fact, the world number one, Lewis Hamilton also suffered a puncture during the very final lap. However, thanks to his lead, he managed to finish P1 and clinch the 7th victory at his home circuit.

The Austrian investor and Formula One business tycoon, Toto Wolff, took full responsibility for the dramatic scene as a Team Principal.

He said that the team was on the verge of coming out with 0 points during their home race. But luckily, Lewis Hamilton sealed his hat-trick win of the season.

“We could have easily lost two cars today, out of the points, and then the points advantage would have vanished in a second. We would have still had the fastest car at Silverstone, but come home with zero points.”

“This is what I’m always pointing out, the championship is not over until it’s mathematically impossible for anybody else to catch us. The race isn’t over until the flag drops.”

He further added by saying, “In that respect, yeah, I’m not happy that my predictions come true sometimes for us. But that’s also what I love about motor racing, that it’s just very unpredictable until the end”.

The Silver Arrows have won all the races of the 2020 season so far. It seems like they are all set to clinch the World Championship. The English team is sitting comfortably on top with the lead of 68 points, with Redbull coming up at second place.
