According to the Silver Arrows chief, the German was dealt with the wrong cards in the F1 world. In an interview, he said, “I really like Mick and I like the family, how they have raised their kids with this unbelievably famous name, and I think he deserves a chance. He won the junior series, and that is not easy.”
“Things can go against you in your first years in Formula 1 and he was under pressure to deliver and that doesn’t help and Formula 1 is brutal,” he added.
He concluded by stating that the year off would contribute to him making a well-informed decision regarding his driving career, much like Daniel Ricciardo. The break would provide perspective and would take the pressure off- which might just be essential for the young lad at this point in life.
