Formula 1 now will race in the United States on three separate occasions, and Toto Wolff is all for it. After adding the Las Vegas Grand Prix to the calender, Formula 1 will travel to the United States thrice this season. The Las Vegas Grand Prix comes besides Miami and Texas Grand Prix.

Even though this drew criticism from fans, Toto Wolff is in favor of the prospect of new and multiple venues in the same country.

Toto Wolff thinks expansion is fantastic

Regardless of criticism from outside regarding multiple venues from the same country, Toto Wolff is all for it and believes this is a fantastic opportunity. New tracks make the sport more competitive. Also generates a new following, which is always an ideal scenario for a sport. But there are a host of people who think this is a threat to the classic European tracks.

However, talking to Motorsport-total, Toto said, “I think Stefano is doing an excellent job of striking a balance between new, interesting venues that are not only attractive from a financial point of view, but also serve to attract new audiences to develop.”

Clear from his comment, Toto is a firm believer of adding new venues to Formula 1. Especially Miami and Las Vegas, as both are extremely attractive venues.

“Especially in Miami and Las Vegas – it doesn’t get any better.” added Toto regarding the two new venues. Drivers were oozing excitement as well after the Las Vegas Grand Prix announcement.

TV Viewers’ point of view

According to the Mercedes boss for the TV viewers, the venue hardly makes a difference. As most Formula 1 fan, watch most of the races from behind a screen. It hardly makes a difference where the races are being held. The venue comes to play only if it gives you an opportunity to go witness the race.

Most fans watch their favorite team race on-screen on most days and Toto believes the same. “I think most of the fans who follow Formula 1 on TV or social media really don’t care where we race. That’s my opinion,” said Toto.

Without making the sport a money milking cow, there needs to be balanced. With newer and more attractive venues like the Las Vegas Grand Prix night race. But there are venues like Monaco Grand Prix and British Grand Prix that cannot be excluded.
