F1 fans are curious when Lewis Hamilton will win a Grand Prix this season. The seven-time world champion has struggled, with some critics calling it ‘laid-back’ driving and others blaming Mercedes for a subpar car. Despite showing his old form in the last three races, fans wonder how long they must wait for a win. Team principal Toto Wolff believes a win is on its way.

He believes Hamilton needs to suffer a few more “dry spells” before clinching a victory. After the Austrian Grand Prix, Sky F1 interviewed Wolff where he mentioned: “He [Lewis Hamilton] has a bad spell and as a racing driver it can be mind crashing if you feel that you’re not able to deliver your best performances”.

According to the 52-year-old, Hamilton is going through some kind of ‘mind crashing’ which is disabling his ability to drive like the beast he used to be.“He needs to go through this. This is not a situation that suddenly he’s unlearned driving, on the contrary,” Wolff added. Hamilton had a brilliant race in Montreal and Barcelona and as per Toto Wolff, “Things have come together.”

Mercedes had one of the worst starts to this year’s F1 season. With multiple issues in the car, W15 seemed beyond the driving spectrum. Despite George Russell’s continuous top 5 ranking in every race, it was Lewis Hamilton’s performance that turned out to be an eyesore. Until recently, Mercedes was out of the contenders list for the World Champion’s title or Constructor’s title. Since Montreal, the tables have turned.

Right ahead of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Toto Wolff announced that his team was working on the upgrades. He further added that it would take them a few more races to see the progress. His words came true. And since the outstanding results from the Canadian Grand Prix, Mercedes is charged up with new energy. It feels like the team is back on track, and this time on the right track. Wolff is the most successful team principal of all time and it is his mastermind and leadership that has got the Silver Arrows ship sailing smoothly again.
