Mercedes are having a horrid start to the 2022 season. The German team is nowhere close to the rivals Ferrari and Red Bull in terms of pace and performance. After getting knocked out of the Q2 session of Emilia Romagna Grand Prix qualifying, we saw a heated discussion between Lewis Hamilton and Toto Wolff.
Many had suspected that the Mercedes team boss was unhappy with the 7-time world champion and his performance in qualifying. But the Austrian came forward to clear the situation surrounding him and Lewis. He revealed that he was not upset with the British driver but with how the session went for the team.

” There was no disagreement at all. I mean, it doesn’t get any closer, like the two of us are. We were just angry about the session, him and I. He vented at me and I vented at him, but it was absolutely about the same thing,” said Wolff.
Mercedes team boss revealed why Lewis Hamilton struggled so much in qualifying

Both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell made out of Q1 by the skin of their teeth. Both Mercedes drivers complained about tire temperature and the mixed weather conditions at Imola. Wolff explained why both drivers struggled so much during the qualifying session and finished 11th and 13th.
“No, it is just a degree of frustration that we are not able to just generate the grip in the first lap and yesterday was all about the first lap, and then it red-flagged. And we weren’t able to make Q3, and it was so frustrating,” said Toto.

It did not get any better for both British drivers at the Sprint race today. Both drivers finished outside of the top 10 and could not make any headway to make their way up the grid. It would be interesting to see how the team goes about approaching the main race tomorrow and can they get some good points from it.
