Of course, Toto Wolff is not happy about Lewis Hamilton leaving the team. It has been more than a decade for the two together. But again, this is Formula One and nothing is forever. And with Lewis Hamilton heading to Ferrari, there are many controversies stirring up about the two teams.
In recent news, Toto Wolff was accused of leaking the news about Lewis Hamilton’s transfer before time. Frederic Vasseur had decided to wait until days nearing the season, but things didn’t go according to his plans. Former F1 driver, Ivan Capelli, told ‘La Gazzetta dello Sport’ that according to him, it was Wolff who leaked the news, and the Mercedes team principal is not having it.

It was not even 24 hours ago that Toto Wolff was accused of leaking the news about Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari switch before Frederic Vasseur’s plans. The Mercedes Team Principal has been quick to respond to the accusations.
The Mercedes Team Principal made an appearance in BBC’s Chequered Flag podcast, where he spoke about his name being attached to the leak. Wolff explained what happened on the day Hamilton broke the news, saying, “We had a very amicable chat like we always have, then we started to talk about changing the organization and he said ‘I need to tell you something: I’m signed for Ferrari for next year.’”
Explaining his reaction, Wolff said, “I was surprised of the timing. The sheer fact didn’t come as a shock at all, it was more: why now? And why from one day to the other? But that discussion probably lasted a minute.” By saying this, the Austrian principal explained how the news was not as shocking as the team, but when it came to his conversation with the Briton driver about his move, it was not paid much attention to.
This is not surprising if you know the relationship that Wolff and Hamilton shared over the years. The two have become more than just colleagues and are close friends at this point. The emphasis was the breakfast they shared, and that was not altered by one piece of news.
