Among topics of discussion in the F1 World, news like Guenther Steiner’s Haas exit brings a wave of emotions for some time. And topics like Lewis Hamilton’s 8th championship make emotions run high year-round. While 2022 and 2023 were the most unlike Mercedes cars that the Briton raced, 2024 promises a certain degree of improvement. And Team Principal Toto Wolff‘s revelation makes it more concrete.
While 2022 for Lewis Hamilton was an absolute disaster, 2023 brought about a step up from their miseries. The 7x champ showed his true might to outshine the W14, which was more inconsistent than the average person sticking to a New Year’s gym resolution. And Toto Wolff was as frustrated with the car as the drivers. But looking at the road ahead and the quest to overcome Red Bull and Max Verstappen’s dominance, the Austrian Boss promises much better.
Toto Wolff on his contract renewal and the W15:

Multiple short clippings of Lewis Hamilton interacting with the Mercedes staff made their way to X in the 2nd half of 2023. The Mercedes star had taken matters into his own hands to propel the legendary team back to its deserved status. While his exact role then was unknown, he has now opened up on what his presence brought about.
“I’m in the factory much more often now, having meetings with all the department heads to try and motivate and encourage them all,” Hamilton said, as quoted by Motorsport Total. He added, “I just try to help them be positive and to say we can do it. I also looked closely at other vehicles and asked a lot of questions just to stimulate ideas.”
