Mick Schumacher was all set to score his first points in Formula One. The German driver was unlucky in the qualifying when he could not get his second run in Q2 as the rain came pouring down. But he made good progress in the sprint race, as he finished in P10 ahead of the likes of Vettel and Hamilton.

But he could not capitalize on his Sprint race performance in the main race. As often is the case with him so many times, he spun on the opening lap of the race trying to get through the field.

He ruined his race from there on and finished the weekend in P17. Mick’s uncle and former F1 driver Ralf Schumacher analyzed Mick’s weekend and mentioned that he needs to cut out the mistakes.

Despite having so many positives this weekend, it was ultimately another failed attempt at getting his first points. Ralf pointed out Mick makes too many mistakes on a race weekend in trying to push for too much.
“There was definitely more possible for Mick. All in all, it was a weak weekend for him, but that could change again,” said Ralf.

“Vettel has shown that. In Australia, he still made a lot of mistakes, but in Imola it was good. Mick can take that as an example. In the dry, he did well and the result in the sprint race was great, but in the race itself, he made too many mistakes. Of course, that should not happen,” said the former F1 driver.

It is a strong point mentioned by Ralf for his nephew. It is indeed getting frustrating to see the Haas driver get so close to performing well throughout the weekend and make a mistake to ruin it all. Mick needs a clean weekend where he can execute everything that he wants from his car.
The doubts may slowly start to creep in on him if he continues to see his teammate perform week after week. Hopefully, for his own sake, he can reduce his mistakes going forward this season. It would be interesting to see how he bounces back as F1 visits Miami for the first time in May.
