Lando Norris is known for his funny antics in the sport, even when he was a reserve driver for McLaren. The young Brit offered a cup of tea, to Fernando Alonso at the United States Grand Prix back in 2018.

The 2-times world champion was also in a cheerful mood and accepted the beverage offered by Norris. It was truly an iconic moment and is still remembered by avid Formula One fans.

While the Spanish driver was waiting in the McLaren garage, Norris walked up to him and offered a cup of tea. Alonso happily accepted and requested sugar, which Norris cheerfully provided.

But, it was done just yet, as Norris took a drill instead of a spoon to help stir Alonso’s tea. However, while Lando was having a conversation, Fernando walked up to him to give him, a cup. The young Brit was surprised, only to realize it was just the empty cup that Alonso had used.

Norris and Alonso still show their support for each other

Before the 21-year-old became one of the most talented drivers on the grid, he was a reserve driver for the Woking-based outfit. During his time, he was mentored by Alonso who helped him find his feet in the sport. And, since then, the two stay and contact, and even swapped helmets.

In Austria, Fernando wrote an inspiring message for the young driver, which said, “You are a star, a rock star!! Best of luck for the future Lando!”

While, Norris was grateful for Alonso and wrote, “Fernando, thanks for teaching me everything when I joined McLaren”.

Even though they might be at different teams, with Alonso at Alpine, and Lando continuing his F1 journey with McLaren. We hope to see such wholesome moments once the second half of the season kicks off in Spa.
