The 2022 Brazilian Grand Prix was one of the most exciting races of the year, if not the most. From Mercedes getting their first win, to Max Verstappen denying Red Bull calls, there were numerous events to follow up on. However, Mick Schumacher’s incident with the Alfa Romeo team also turned a lot of heads.
It was an eventful week for Haas. Their Danish F1 driver, Kevin Magnussen, picked up his first F1 pole at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace, making it the first American team pole since the 1975 British Grand Prix. It was all good until Magnussen crashed out. Following this, Schumacher faced an unusual situation as he came close to an Alfa Romeo official while going into his pit box.

It is unsure what the man was doing there. However, it was regarded as an irresponsible and risky move by the rival team. As the issue was raised, FIA took quick note of the incident, and later on, the stewards picked it up for further investigations.
Aftermath of the Mick Schumacher – Alfa Romeo incident
After the investigation, FIA directed the Alfa Romeo team to pay a fine of €1,000 [$1,032]. The F1 governing body released a statement on this. It stated, “A member of the Alfa Romeo team who is not involved in pit stops entered the pit lane working area and was in a position where he was unreasonably close to the path of the approaching Haas car which was starting its pit stop.”

“The Stewards determined that this was an unsafe situation,” the statement further shared.
Even though it had no effect on Schumacher and his race, in the end, the German finished in P13 after starting the race from P12. At one point it looked like both the Haas cars might bring points in Brazil, however, none succeeded.
