Kevin Magnussen has done it. He’s pulled out a rabbit from the hat as he took his and Haas’ first-ever pole position in F1. The Danish driver will start the race ahead of reigning world champion Max Verstappen and Mercedes driver George Russell. However, it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbow for his German teammate, Mick Schumacher.

Schumacher is fighting for a seat for next year and it’s safe to say that today’s qualifying didn’t help his cause. Additionally, Haas team principal Guenther Steiner previously called him out and things don’t look so good for the former F2 champion.

The session was rain-hit and teams struggled to make the right choice of tires for the qualifying. Subsequently, Mick Schumacher qualified the slowest and finished the session dead last while his teammate went on to grab the pole position.
