After completing 16 years in F1, Lewis Hamilton is among the most popular athletes in the world. However, that does not necessarily mean that everyone that follows him is a fan. The man is not immune to criticism and sometimes has to endure downright hate comments and posts. Well, Mercedes took advantage of it and sat him down to read some of those mean tweets. While the video made for great entertainment, fans urged the team to continue with this segment with some outrageous requests for the theme.

Hamilton has always been sensitive to social issues and has raised his voice whenever necessary. Being a famous personality with a massive platform like F1, he uses his popularity to raise awareness. However, some people think that he often goes overboard with his agenda, ending up sounding preachy. A ‘mean tweet’ took a dig at that part of his personality.

Mercedes recently uploaded a video of Hamilton reading some mean tweets about him on YouTube. They even posted a snippet of the video on Twitter that fans found to be hilarious. The theme of the tweets included everything from his wacky outfits to his activistic personality. It was the latter that came first and instantly became a hit.

Lewis read a fan as writing, Lewis Hamilton is so draining man. Can’t the guy just say a sentence without curing world peace or just being a mad hippy?”

That got a good chuckle out of the Mercedes man who replied, What do you want me to say? I’m a positive guy.”

Hamilton read all the other ones about his clothes and the way he looks and got a good laugh out of all of them. Obviously, team Mercedes did not include the vile and abusive comments that are posted against him on a daily basis. But some fans wanted them to show him those as well.

A large majority, however, wanted them to continue this segment albeit with “thirst tweets”. Take a look at some of the reactions from Twitter.
