Michael Schumacher moved to the not-so-successful Ferrari at the time and made it the greatest ever. A glory that the scarlet team is still chasing to date. Another story of lost glory appears to be penned down at their closest rivals, Mercedes. A straight 8x champion team is now barely able to put both cars ahead of p8 on the grid. A slump that began last year hasn’t cast any learning curve for the team. One learns from their mistakes. However, a team that hasn’t made any in the longest time probably doesn’t know how to deal with them. And as a result, the grapevine is ripe about Lewis Hamilton‘s intention of extending his iconic partnership with the Silver Arrows.

The disaster that unfolded at Bahrain GP left the world disappointed in the Brackley outfit. And the front runner of those disappointed beings was their own champion, Hamilton, who blasted them for not listening to him. With his contract set to expire at the end of this year, a few pundits have chimed in about a prospective move to Ferrari, but can it happen?

As quoted by Maximaal.nl, Sky Sports presenter Simon Lazenby stated, “He’s definitely waiting to see how this car feels,” he points to the W14. “I think the good relationship with the team and Toto Wolff will last, but you can never rule out a move to Ferrari. It’s every driver’s dream and he said so himself.”

Sky Journalist and analyst Naomi Schiff, who is also close to Hamilton, thinks that Mercedes man’s morals may come in the way of him leaving his team for the Maranello outfit. She said, “I think Hamilton would go to Ferrari, but I don’t think he will leave Mercedes. He is a team player and wants to leave his legacy there, just like Niki Lauda. I don’t see him leaving at the last minute after all these years with the team.”

But regardless of the looming threat of the 7x champion leaving, another F1 pundit has asked Mercedes to sort things out.

Mercedes warned to match up to their champion, Lewis Hamilton

Ex-F1 driver turned Pundit and most recently Oscar Piastri’s manager, Mark Webber, has warned the Brackley outfit to start with improvements as it is not Hamilton who lags but them.

Webber said, “Because honestly, Lewis’ trophy cabinet is not in question. He’s a winner. He can still win. I think he’s got an immense motivation, but this industry is about, for him now, he wants performance, and he knows the technical details of these things [cars] is not the work of an overnight technical revelation that they’re going to pull out one day to the next and find that performance. So what is he going to do? How is he going to position himself mentally the first part of the season?”

He further added, “He will give everything, but the Tom Brady’s of this world, the people that he looks up to, long careers, I think he will take great advice before he makes a decision, and I don’t think it’ll be a rushed decision, but Merc have got to pull their socks up.
