Lewis Hamilton welcomed his new teammate George Russell to the team at the start of this season. After Valtteri Bottas left the team for Alfa Romeo, Mercedes replaced him with the young Briton. As Hamilton and Russell get well with each other, the former Williams driver recalls his childhood memories with his veteran teammate.

During the post-race conference in Brazil, the young Briton was asked about one thing he would tell his younger self. Rather than sticking to the question, the 24-year-old got nostalgic and stated, “When I think of us now, I think of the photo of Lewis and I from 2009, which we’d probably both appreciate, is not shared too much. Because we’re both not looking at our finest.”
“It’s just unbelievable, firstly, how quick time flies and makes you realize you need to make the most of every single moment.”
The photo Russell was talking about is from the 2009 F1 season, when Hamilton was with McLaren and George was still in his Karting cadet class.

Mercedes had the best race of the season in Brazil as they picked up their first-ever win in 2022. It was not only the win that mattered but also the fact that it was a 1-2 finish with Russell picking up his first F1 win.
