“They Need a Pastor or a Psychologist”: F1 Fans Wrongly Torch Piquet Family Over Misconstrued Remarks Against Lewis Hamilton

Brazil’s latest F1 driver, Lewis Hamilton has spent the last week celebrating his citizenship days ahead of his second “home Grand Prix”. However, the country also houses the Piquets- racing royalty in the world of motorsports and outspoken cynics of Hamilton’s success. However, this time, not everything is as it seems

Lewis Hamilton is one of the few drivers who is associated with social causes.  After the Brazilian citizenship ceremony, Hamilton was found interacting with Portuguese group members, as a video surfaced on the internet.

The video shows Hamilton in conversation with the leaders of the Black community in Brazil. He also received a series of gifts from them. After a while, he was caught listening to a Portuguese MST group member, Ruth Venceremos; accompanied by a translator to help him.

Lewis Hamilton, being a gentleman, listened to everything very calmly and then later received the cap of the MST group, which is a Landless Rural Workers Movement.

But it seems a member of the Piquet family might have some issue with Hamilton getting associated with the group.

Rodrigo Piquet, the nephew of an Ex F1 driver Nelson Piquet, posted an Instagram story yesterday, in which he wrote: “What a shameful situation,” in his language. It seems there’s something that is not accepted by the Piquet Family about Hamilton. Earlier this year, his uncle Nelson Piquet was caught in a scandal while using a racial slur while talking about the Mercedes man.

However, regarding this Instagram post- there could be two interpretations: the first being Piquet’s disregard for Hamilton; which the masses consider to be true- or, as the caption of the post echoes, the “shameful” alleged acts of violence carried out by the group. Regardless, F1 fans had their piece to share of the whole situation.

Fans Rush to support Lewis Hamilton

Despite the confusion, people were quick to hate Rodrigo himself, and with an overall exasperation of the Piquet family’s attitude against Hamilton.

The general emotion was one of confusion. Fans were quick to point out that for a family against the 7x Champ, they sure had a lot to say about him. One of the fans wrote, “for a family that clearly hates him so much, they’re really up in his business huh, always know what he’s doing and all that.”

Another fan commented, “Lewis doesn’t have to pay rent here as he lives for free in the triplex he has in the piquet’s head”

The anger was quick to permeate through the platform, as the initial post soon blew up- spreading fires across Twitter.

As the Piquet family, once again face fire for their remarks, Hamilton would surely turn a blind eye to his naysayers- focusing, instead to score a win at his new home GP.
