Recently, it came to light that the FIA has decided how they will punish the Milton-Keynes-based outfit for the breach of the cost cap regulations. However, Max Verstappen, amongst all this, has come out to take a pointed jab at Mercedes for their involvement in the whole process.

Verstappen believes that both Toto Wolff and Lewis Hamilton will never be able to overcome their loss to Red Bull at the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP. While talking to De Telegraaf, he said, “They are sour anyway, it no longer matters what you say or do. I can let it go and they probably can’t, they will never be able to and it is a problem for them.”

He went on to express his feelings about the whole cost-cap situation. “I’m not involved in it but it’s a bit frustrating, we believe we have done nothing wrong. It turned out that some things fell under the budget ceiling that we had not expected. But in the end, it’s not up to me.”

Verstappen was booed as he and his teammate, Sergio Perez, came to the stage for an interview ahead of the race. To this, Wolff told Sky Germany, “That is unacceptable.”

He continued, “The booing, whether it’s on the podium or on the fan stage, nobody wants to see that. I think we (F1) have done a lot against this kind of behavior. It is somewhat contained, and it doesn’t belong here either. Something like that should not happen.”
