Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso are arguably two of the biggest stars Formula 1 has seen. Naturally, the chatter about the two is almost always constant. And to add another dynamic to it all, the duo were infamous teammates back in 2007. Alonso being the defending champion, and Hamilton, the nameless rookie. What ensued that year at McLaren deserves a blockbuster script of its own. However, even before a movie can be in the works, Alonso seems to have hinted at a real-life sequel.
The chance of seeing these two seasoned veterans, at the peak of their powers, duelling each other once again in equal machinery would be the stuff of legends. While currently, this may seem like an impossible desire, Alonso has stirred a whole bunch of people up with his recent comments. The Spaniard recently expressed his desire to team up with Hamilton one last time to end their careers together.

Even though his comments cannot be simply discarded, he does have a habit of making waves with his choice of words and when he speaks them. For example, as soon as he came to Aston Martin, Lance Stroll, the son of Billionaire and Aston Martin owner Lawrence Stroll became a championship prospect. Then what prompted Alonso to speculate about Hamilton?
According to the hosts of ESPN F1’s Unlapped podcast, “Fernando always has the knack of saying the right thing at the right time! He was talking to the Daily Mail, which is obviously a big British publication that writes all sorts of headlines around Lewis Hamilton. I think he knew he was about to win with that readership. And I mean I don’t doubt it either.”
But while Alonso may want to be teammates with Hamilton, for that to happen, the 7x champion must defect to Aston Martin.

Alonso’s probably living his best life right now. With Aston Martin growing from strength to strength, the Spaniard has his eyes firmly set on that elusive third championship. However, is he willing to wait or will the next best opportunity lure him away?
Sports Illustrated quoted the 42-year-old as saying, “I want to be two to three years at this level. That is the team’s aim too. We are not at a stage to win a championship, but we want time to reach the target. That is why I came back to Formula 1 in 2021 after a couple of years out. I thought the new regulations coming in last season would mix it up, which they have.”
