Alpine ran pink cars before they went back to their signature blue, but Red Bull probably doesn’t believe in the same. While winning days may be new for Red Bull, as they claimed the constructors’ title back from Mercedes after almost a decade, but ‘rallying the same livery’ days are old. Red Bull has been serving its dedicated fans with the same livery every year and even when they promised to bring in the Miami element to the livery. And this time fans have called them out for the clever tactic.

Red Bull held a contest in which they asked their fans to design their livery ahead of the Miami GP weekend. The team had decided that they will run three fan-made designs for the three races to be organized in the States. And this one becomes the first edition of fan designing.

Dropping the chosen design, on Instagram, Red Bull wrote, “Meet Miami Bull 🥰 designed by you, the fans!! Drop a ❤️if you’re ready to see RB19 @ the #MiamiGP 🇺🇸. Stay tuned for the next opportunity to design RB19 made possible The @oracle Red Bull Racing Paddock. #makeyourmark #makeyourmarkmiami #miamigp”

But the fans seem triggered for more than one reason after the minimal livery reveal.

Fans come up with reasons why Red Bull didn’t pick a better design

Carrying the least amount of paint keeps you going faster. While I’m no Adrian Newey, this bit is common knowledge. Probably this is why the black in the Mercedes livery is the bare carbon fiber body. And this is why three colored stripes are all Milton Keynes decided to add. Take a look at a few of the comments on Instagram:

“I’m pretty sure if youd really let the fans design your car, they’d come up with something that’s isn’t just the normal livery with some stripes slapped on 🙄”

“Next time don’t even and ask fans to vote, if you finally choose a livery that wasn’t in the contest options”

And a lot of fans even slammed the reigning champions for conducting a fake contest in which they didn’t pick any of the finalists.
