Fernando Alonso is currently in Budapest, preparing for the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend. Incidentally, it’s also his birthday week, and he was surprised when old rival Sebastian Vettel decided to join in on his birthday celebrations at the drivers’ press conference in Hungary.
The 4-time world champion Vettel brought in something special for Alonso. However, in true Seb fashion, he made everyone laugh when he shot the party popper the wrong way.

I will shave, and I will look very young! – Fernando Alonso on his birthday plans
As reported by Motorsport, Fernando saw the funny side when he was asked about his birthday plans and how he feels about turning 40. The two-time world champion gave a very cheeky answer regarding his age.
“I will go on the [sunbed], I will be tanned, I will shave, and I will look very young!” Alonso said.
“We’ll eat some cake. But apart from that, it’s going to be a very normal weekend. I feel 25. So whatever number it says in the passport, it’s not what I feel.” said Alonso.

When news broke that Alonso would drive for Alpine (then Renault), replacing Daniel Ricciardo after he decided to move to McLaren, expectations were high, as so was the energy. Unfortunately, the Spaniard met with a serious biking before the season began, and had to undergo surgeries.
Thus, the stress of the accident and the injuries held Alonso back at the beginning of the season.

“Honestly, after the accident at the beginning of the year, in the first couple of races, [there was] still a part of the stress of coming back to the sport.
“I was concerned about the jaw, about the shoulder as well, that I had a small, small injury. But now, I’m super, super fit and I am 200%. So, you know, [Hungary] is another number,” said Alonso.

The Spaniard is currently leading the charge at Alpine and would look to capitalize in Hungary as the circuit should suit the car.
