No matter how much good one puts out in the world, there are always people asking for more. This stands true for Lewis Hamilton as well, despite his consistent activism and support for various social issues. A recent example in Hamilton’s life is the public plea by PETA’s founder Ingrid Newkirk. However, the wording of the plea is sparking outrage in the F1 community.

PETA president’s plea to the Mercedes man was to ask for his support against Iditarod, a 975 miles long sled dog race. A race that is the reason for the suffering and deaths of the dogs used in the race. A race that is still sponsored by the owner of F1 and CEO of Liberty Media, Greg Maffei.
Let us look at the public plea made by the PETA president, to bring you up to speed. “Lewis, please, stop ignoring our desperate appeal for help! A word from you could prevent dogs every bit as precious as Roscoe, with whom you share your home, from enduring hideous deaths in a race sponsored by F1’s owner,” read the plea.

The accusation of ignorance and the use of Hamilton’s bulldog Roscoe in the plea are extremely disrespectful and manipulative. If there was a way to approach Hamilton to ask for his help, Newkirk’s way was not it.
In fact, this approach by the PETA president is sparking outrage among the fans.

The fans are now questioning the president’s insensitive approach. The fans are especially outraged about the fact that Hamilton is being targeted by the PETA president for his social activism.
Should he talk about how you guys kidnap pets and murder them?

Pathetic, he's not responsible for every charity or injustice in the world stop this gaslighting before you lose support.

The fans are calling out the entire organization for “gaslighting” their agenda with the use of Roscoe. Hamilton’s soft spot for animals shouldn’t put a target on his back.
Shameful trying to make Lewis seem like the bad guy here! He uses his platform for many valuable causes, but it is not his job to solve every problem in the world. And don’t bring Roscoe into this either!

The guilt tripping? He already does so much. Why don’t you target someone that doesn’t use “their platform” for good already
— hilla✨#44💜 (@Hillary_Michel) December 22, 2022
The fans are also accusing the organization and the president of “guilt-tripping” the world champion.
Perhaps he already does support animal rights but @peta don’t know about it because he’s not being a loud mouth virtue signaller.

Do you just not pay attention to the activism he takes part in?

Hold up, aren't you lot against pets? Why are you trying to play the sympathy card with Roscoe?

You are trying to target one of the biggest animal rights activists in all of sport. Why alienate someone who already supports your stance???
