Team Mercedes really had a great FP3 session in Mexico, with George Russell and Lewis Hamilton finishing P1 and P2. However, it was Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who snatched the pole position at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. Following the session on Saturday afternoon, a clip attracted people’s attention.

Red Bull and Mercedes fans would have been delighted after witnessing a wonderful qualifying session at the Mexican track. With form on their driver’s side after a podium at the US GP, Lewis Hamilton fans were hoping that the star driver can convert his good qualifying into a race win.

After qualifying, a clip emerged where the top three completed the post-session formalities. As per the norm, Hamilton and Russell walked off to let the media get solo pictures of the pole sitter.

However, the fans, who seemed to be in the mood for some fun, comically misinterpreted it as disinterest on the Mercedes drivers’ part.

As people thought this was due to the Red Bull and Mercedes rivalry, F1 Twitter pounced on the opportunity to have some banter around it.

Lewis Hamilton was on the verge of winning his eighth F1 championship when Verstappen came in and snatched the crown on the final lap at the 2021 Abu Dhabi GP. This was the culmination of a fierce championship fight that spanned the duration of the F1 season. Time and again, both the drivers competed against each other ferociously on the track and were found taking digs off the track.

Twitter F1 fans were quick to assume that last year’s tensions have crawled into this year as well.

A fan commented on how quickly the Silver Arrow drivers left.

Another fan replied, saying it’s more of a family photo.

With such good starting grid positions for the Mercedes duo, they will hit the track and hope to take the checkered flag for the first time in 2022.

While it might be win number 104 for Lewis Hamilton, a victory in Mexico will mark George Russell’s maiden trip to the top step of the podium in F1. Standing in their path will be the new two-time world champion, who will look to clinch a record-breaking 14 wins in a season.
