The Abu Dhabi fiasco that cost Lewis Hamilton, his 8th World title, will never be forgotten. The race director’s role in deciding how the 2021 Championship panned out is controversial to say the least. However, with Red Bull’s imminent cost cap breach penalty coming our way, which could potentially lead to Verstappen being stripped off his 2021 title, it would appear that vindication is on the cards for the 7x World Champion.
That being said, Hamilton has already moved on. While speaking to Motorsport.com, the Brit told us exactly why. He began by reiterating that it doesn’t matter if the FIA decides to strip Verstappen of the 2021 title in light of Red Bull‘s cost cap breach.
“No, because the damage is done,” said the Brit when asked if Verstappen’s fall would bring him any satisfaction. He then went on to explain why this was the case. He said, “We gave it our all and we did it the right way, and I am proud of that.”
Lewis Hamilton has left the past in the past. Moreover, the Brit is still determined to fight for that 8th title. Recently, he gave a major insight into his discussions with Mercedes about his future in the sport.
