Max Verstappen has made it challenging for other drivers to survive around him on the circuits ever since his early days. The Dutchman was simply on another level after he entered the Milton Keynes side. The Dutch ace has developed the skill to drive the Red Bull vehicle throughout his adventure.
To mention a few, Pierre Gasly and Alexander Albon had to quit the Milton Keynes team because of their subpar performance and Daniel Ricciardo chose to switch seats to Renault (now Alpine). Although Sergio Perez, who joined Red Bull in 2021, gave the Dutchman a fierce battle. At the same time, he knows what calibre Verstappen possesses. “He is an experienced and complete driver, said Perez. “He is currently the best driver in Formula 1.”
The overwhelming performance of Max Verstappen will go down in the annals of Formula 1. However, the Dutchman thinks the following year won’t be the same as the manufacturers are closing the gap with Red Bull.
Max Verstappen doesn’t believe the same pattern will occur in season 2023
Red Bull will be at a disadvantage for the 2023 season. The Milton Keynes team won the constructor’s championship, which implies that they will get to run the fewest number of wind tunnel hours in accordance with criteria set by the FIA. The team was also fined for exceeding the budget restriction, which resulted in an additional 10% reduction in wind tunnel time.

Verstappen does not think the same trend will repeat itself in the upcoming year, despite having won one of the most lopsided seasons in the history of the sport. Talking to Racing News365, Verstappen said, “The others are not stupid. And certainly, with these rules, which are a bit more restrictive than the previous set of rules, everyone is getting closer together.”
“All teams now have an idea of which course to take so yes, I expect smaller differences next year, but that’s only good. Of course, I hope that we are still ahead, but that is not at all as obvious as this year,” he added.
