Lewis Hamilton has somehow made his way to the Q3 by the margin of whiskers. In Q1, he had to wait until the dying seconds to know that he had indeed made it into Q2. Then, the same happened in Q2 when he made his final flying lap to make it into Q3. However, before the session even started, the FIA handed him a fine for an infringement. The amount was so insignificant to the $285 million-worth (as per PlanetF1) man that fans couldn’t help but mock the ruling body for it.

The third free practice session turned out to be quite a bummer for Hamilton. He struggled to get to terms with the car and found it difficult to find the pace. Later, he crashed in into the barriers taking significant damage to the car. However, the Mercedes engineers did a great job of putting up the car back into shape to run for qualifying. That, however, wasn’t where the drama in FP3 ended for Hamilton.

The FIA released a note that revealed that the Briton was found speeding in the pit lane by 5.5 kph (3.4 mph)over the stipulated limit. Such an infringement invites heavy penalties during the qualifying and the main race. However, because it was just a free practice session, they let him get away with a fine. How much was the amount of the fine, you ask? A measly 600 Euros ($643).

As fans came across the note, they made fun of the penalty as it obviously isn’t something that will bother the Mercedes star who is linked with a $49 million move to Ferrari. Take a look at some reactions from Twitter.

What is funnier is the fact that the FIA included a clause to appeal the penalty. While that is a part of the procedure, do you think Mercedes or Hamilton will appeal the decision? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
