Formula 1 is growing at an exponential rate and there are many people interested in being a part of it. A lot of big names, mind you. Amongst them is Hong Kong’s billionaire Calvin Lo, who is on a mission to create the first new team in F1 in a decade. Moreover, Calvin wants Mick Schumacher to fulfill his F1 aspirations.

The $1.7B man is looking to form a consortium to execute his project. However, he might not find it easy, as F1 remains the most exclusive of clubs. For instance, despite being a former F1 champion, the Andretti Group is finding it hard to enter the pinnacle of motorsports.
Calvin Lo thinks his idol’s son would be the perfect person to drive for them
Lo first got hooked on F1 during one of his business trips to Singapore in 2000. He watched Michael Schumacher dominate the grid and instantly became the German legend’s fan. Now, he plans on appointing his son, Mick Schumacher, to drive for his team and lead them in the sport.
The Billionaire said, “I think Mick Schumacher is an asset for any team. Can you imagine? My hero, my idol Schumacher, his son whose has had the training and that mindset exposure since he was a little kid.”
He further continued, “Sure, he may have been a little bit unlucky the last two seasons or last few races specifically but I mean, he is such an amazing driver.”
He continued, “From a finance point of view, from a marketing point, that’s incredible.”
“From a boy who grew up watching Schumacher and the son is driving [for me]. Wow, that’s like heaven.”
Mick Schumacher is also rumored to be the front-runner to drive for Audi, who will join the grid in 2026. Whether Lo manages to convince Schumacher is a topic for the future.
Mercedes boss Toto Wolff wants to “look after” Mick Schumacher
Mick Schumacher is currently out of contract for next season and is set to sit out on the sidelines. However, Mercedes boss Toto Wolff seems to have handed the German a lifeline with the Silver Arrows keen to secure his services for their reserve driver role. Their former reserve driver Nyck de Vries left the Brackley team to drive for AlphaTauri next season.

Furthermore, Toto Wolff seems to be a fan of Michael Schumacher’s son and he could sign the former Haas driver. The German driver was replaced by his compatriot, Nico Hulkenberg.
Wolff said, “Mick is someone that has always been close to our heart because of Michael, or the whole Schumacher family.”
