The 2023 Dutch GP weekend was one that Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes would like to forget. One expects Ferrari to be the team that makes the kind of mistakes that Mercedes made at the Dutch GP. Yes, we’re talking about strategic errors. Ones that possibly cost the team a chance at a podium position. Nonetheless, Lewis Hamilton contradicts Toto Wolff and pins the blame on Mercedes. What did Hamilton say?
Mercedes made all the wrong calls, especially during the first dry-to-wet and then back-to-dry stint. As a result, the team found itself at the back end. Toto Wolff called it a catastrophe as he advised how Mercedes got it completely wrong. Toto Wolff wasn’t happy with the Dutch GP result. As we’ve mentioned already, he called the first stint as a catastrophe. However, the Mercedes CEO didn’t fail to see the positives in this bad situation. Toto Wolff explained how the race pace was promising and is something for the team to look forward to. Even Hamilton advised how he was as quick as Verstappen was.
During the post-race interviews, Toto Wolff, speaking with Sky Sports, said, “I would rather have a fast race car and a mediocre result even though it hurts. It is bittersweet because the result is just really bad.
