The proximity between Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez’s families is no secret. The scenes went viral as Lewis’ dad gave a peck on papa Perez’s cheek at the end of the Mexican GP. This, in addition to the recent rift between Max Verstappen and Perez after the Brazilian GP, made fans wonder if the latest developments would make Checo get close to the Mercedes camp.

Red Bull strategists in the final stages of the Brazilian GP realized Perez could not pass Fernando Alonso and Charles Leclerc. In the hope of stealing some points away from the Monegasque, the team asked Max to pass his teammate and fight the drivers in front.

However, Verstappen was also told to return the place back to Checo in case he could not pass Alonso. Verstappen, however, refused to follow the team’s orders.

Fans wonder if Sergio Perez’s family is closer to Lewis Hamilton’s than Max Verstappen’s

Lewis finishing ahead of Checo in Mexico did not go down well with the local fans as they jeered him before the post-race interview. Perez, however, showed sportsmanship and gestured the crowd to not do that.

Another fan loved the two pictures showing the warmth in relations between the two drivers and their dads.

While the two families growing fond of each other is news to some of us, Checo had earlier revealed how much his family supports Lewis. In a video that surfaced on Twitter earlier this year, Checo told Max, “You know who our favorite driver is?” “It’s you, me of course, and Lewis! But normally more Lewis,” he continued.

Verstappen responded, “Oh really? That has to change.”
