Lewis Hamilton took the world by storm as he finished on the podium in his very first race in F1. The boy from Stevenage had a great battle that season with his then-teammate and double-world champion, Fernando Alonso. However, the rookie lost the title to Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen by a mere point. He went on to win it the next year.

Hamilton never looked back after winning his first world title. He has shattered multiple records and is the joint-highest title winner with Michael Schumacher, winning 7 titles. Moreover, Lewis also holds the record for winning the most races in F1, which is 103. Hamilton joined Mercedes from McLaren in 2013 and won 6 of his 7 titles there.

On the other side, Alonso’s career followed a different trajectory after Hamilton’s arrival. The Spaniard never won a title ever since Lewis joined the grid.

Moreover, his recent comments regarding his ex-teammate have sparked a major controversy on Twitter. Alonso complimented Max Verstappen, and it looked like he was belittling Lewis’ success in the process. Verstappen won his 2nd title after winning the Japanese Grand Prix a few weeks ago.

He said“I think Verstappen’s titles are more valuable than what Hamilton has achieved. I have a lot of respect for Lewis, but it’s different when you only race with your teammate and win 7 titles.”
