The young talented McLaren star, Lando Norris has found himself in a spot of bother. The incident took place at the Styrian Grand Prix during the FP1 (Free Practice 1) session. The irrelevant mistake done by the English Driver has proven to be crucial for his team. The driver has received a grid penalty for the main race.

Lando Norris handed 3 place penalty

It was yet another horrific start for the struggling team, Williams. Nicholas Latifi left the race just after performing 6 laps. The radio said that the driver faced some engine problems and pulled out the car on the side of the track.

Therefore, it resulted in a yellow flag situation at the Redbull Ring, Austria.

During that span of time, three more cars were expected to be on track. Including, the Racing Point driver Sergio Perez, the Alpha Tauri driver Pierre Gasly along with the McLaren driver as well.

The Williams driver pulled himself out and parked the car at the side of the track. All the drivers were informed about the yellow flag through their respective team principals regarding the incident from the radio.

Norris was informed by his Team Principal about the yellow flag at turn four. He accelerated out of the corners and overtook both the drivers on the track.

It was clearly seen that the yellow flag was visible at the track shown by the officials of operations. He overtook Sergio Perez and Pierre Gasly simultaneously as shown in the image above.

As a result, he has been found guilty for this and FIA took the right decision for the incident. The driver has now received a grid penalty of three positions for the main race on 12th July 2020.

It’s shocking to see a driver like Lando committing such a mistake. The professional F1 driver recorded his best ever and first podium finish last week in Austria by 3rd after the race.
