In Formula 1, every millisecond counts. More often than not, the potential of a car comes from the designers, who have built it. So it should not come as a surprise that Lewis Hamilton has targeted Red Bull’s Adrian Newey to ensure that Mercedes gets back to the top.
Mercedes have been struggling this year and, so has Lewis Hamilton. Being used to a championship-winning car and now being thrust into a difficult almost-midfield car cannot be easy for the 7-time World Champion. Hamilton began by saying, “My championship winning car was an evolution of his car. He did his thesis on ground-effect floors, I mean it’s no surprise to be honest.” He went on to explain why he thinks the Red Bull has been so dominant this year and how Newey has helped this. “They’ve clearly got the aero balancing great, they’ve clearly got great ride quality, He doesn’t have any problems with bump.”

“He’s one of the only ones that draw by hand the design of cars. So his understanding there has definitely been an advantage to them and they have done a good job.”.

Lewis Hamilton has opened up about how he has struggled with the car and what could be the reason behind it.
Hamilton said, “There is a gremlin in our car, or a few gremlins, that we haven’t found yet. And that’s something that we need to continue to analyse and look at the data.” He further explained, “The problem is when you push the car a little bit more, she is quite spiteful.”. He concluded by saying that he “definitely won’t miss” the W13 after this season ends.
