In 2018, Lewis Hamilton produced a stunning qualifying lap in the brightly lit street circuit of Singapore. He went on to describe that as “one of the most complete laps” of his life. And that spectacular lap sits atop most great ones the sport has ever seen. While that was only possible when you become one with your machine, what has unfolded 5 years later is the absolute opposite if we are to believe Hamilton’s feedback. And the said feedback stands at loggerheads with the advice his father, Anthony Hamilton extended.
Anthony Hamilton was seen sharing an insight about how he has told Lewis that there is no other way around progress other than becoming one with the car. This comes in light of the 7x champion openly criticizing the team. Moreover, at the parc ferme interview, it was made clear that there still is no love between the man and his machine. And he has never shied away from being vocal against the subpar W14, which still gave him a P2 at Albert Park.
Being interviewed by David Coulthard, Hamilton, even though in the runners-up position, declared in misery, saying, “I still feel uncomfortable in the car though, I don’t feel connected to it. I’m driving the best I can with that disconnect and I’m working as hard as I can to try and create that connect but I think it’s a long project.”

The man who wanted to make a go for his eighth title was rendered without a win in 2022 and a victory still doesn’t seem very possible with the way things are unfolding. While Ferrari is being touted as the favorite to take Lewis if he decides to switch bases, the man’s father is not so sure the move is likely to happen given his son’s loyalty and the shared history.
As quoted by the Standard, Hamilton said “I’d be very surprised if he joined another team. He’s been with Mercedes since his karting days. He’d be getting to that age where he’d be thinking about an exit plan and what to do with the rest of his life. He could be a Mercedes ambassador for all time.”
