“Still Not Making…”: Fernando Alonso Boasts Aston Martin’s Impeccable Start Despite Yearning to End his 10-Year Hiatus

Fernando Alonso is currently experiencing the most incredible resurgence in his Formula 1 career. “At the beginning of the year a podium was amazing,” confessed Alonso. “Now, after four podiums, we obviously want more, at least a second place, but the two Red Bulls are always unbreakable and they are always super-fast.”

However, Alonso is still patiently and intently waiting for an opportunity to pounce for a win. “Obviously, we want to step higher on the podium for P2, and eventually one day we have an opportunity to win a race. If one day there is a crack, if there is an opportunity, we need to make sure we are in that position and we’re still not making mistakes at any point in the weekend.”

“A 100th podium? A 33rd victory? No, I’m going for a world championship,” said Alonso. “We have huge changes coming to the car. So far everything that has been announced to me by the technical team has materialized. If these developments bring the hoped-for gains, it will be normal to aim high.”
