This year, Haas will be looking to recover from their horrific 2020 season. They finished second to last in the Constructors standings, getting three points across two races.

Team Principal, Gunther Steiner, was glad that Haas survived the season. While there are plenty of negatives to look at, he’s looking at the bright side of things. His main takeaway from the season was the fact that the team survived and is still in F1.

Haas have already publicly stated that they would be focusing on the car for 2022, the season that would see the highly anticipated rule changes.

“We survived,” says Steiner

Haas boss, Steiner, thinks that the team should be glad that they’re still in F1. He said in an interview, “What have we done right? We survived! That is what we have done right.”

He feared that the team would cease to exist, saying, “I think there was a big chance that we were not here anymore but I think everybody pulled together and we are here to stay.”

The Italian thinks F1 and teams like Haas share a mutually beneficial and very symbiotic relationship.

He said, “I think, all in all, maybe we haven’t been good at the track but I think we have been good for the future of Haas F1 and for Formula 1.

“I think, as much as we think they don’t need us, I think Formula 1 needs teams like Haas F1.”
